Jeff Mills is an electrifying old school DJ from Detroit. His style of music is very science fiction inspired and is a nice blend of minimal and techno. With the album Metropolis
, Jeff Mills has carefully constructed a dark and moody soundtrack to the 1927 futuristic masterpiece of the same name. The album as a whole echoes the consistent theme in science fiction: are machines capable of expressing human emotion? This theme is evoked through Jeff Mills subtle use of static synth sounds to produce both mechanical and organic sounds. The album is very distant and cold, but also has the ability to spark strong emotional responses for the average human listener. Download it here. OR you can buy it here.
